What are some banana home remedies?

  1. Bruises – If you’ve got bruises, place the peel on the bruise, taping it down so that it stays in place.
  2. Hangovers – Do you suffer from hangovers after a night of drinking? Consider something sweet like a banana milkshake mixed with honey. The banana works on the stomach, and with the assistance of the honey, increases the glucose level. The milk will rehydrate the body.
  3. Hiccups – Get relief from your hiccups by mixing honey and burnt banana leaves (at least two tablespoons).
  4. Mosquito bites – Rub the banana peel inside out to soothe the itchiness of mosquito bites.

  1. Bananas are lower in calories than a lot of other fruits but they are higher in carbs and for someone on a low carb diet they can be very bad. I love bananas and there is a recipe for frozen banana ice cream that is fabulous but again high in carbs. Everything you eat has carbs in it and it’s so frustrating when the low carbs is the only way for you to lose weight.

    Bananas are a “higher” carb fruit but in the grand scheme of things their GI Load isn’t too bad at 18 and you do need to get some carbs in your diet for energy. I always eat a banana before a workout.
    **Updated March 11, 2013 – I was just reading through some old posts on the site and ran across this one. I’ve been training fasted for awhile now and never eat before a workout. Just my own personal preference that I’ve experimented with and stuck too.
